You werent in a bad place tho. I would be careful not replacing that sensor if that is that it is, friend ruined one last year cause he had undone the sensor wire and it got low and screwed things up.
X2!!!!!! REPLACE the sensor if it's bad. It could also be an obstruction in the water jacket. It will pee regardless of the obstruction, but the engine won't get enough water flow to keep it cool. Pull the thermostat and check it. If uouve ever had a impeller go bad in it, the fins can stop up the water flow to the engine. Just an idea if the oil sensor is good.
