    Default 2 hours and 4 wal-marts later...

I had the tm batteries I needed to be able to fish. By this time, it was 10:30 pm and I hadn't even taken the old batteries out yet. Set up a light and got them swapped out after some cussing and blood loss. New batteries are just a tad larger than the old ones and wouldn't fit in the trays. They are in the trays on one end, but sitting elevated on the other end. Got them strapped in, so they ain't going nowhere.

Question: Does it hurt for them to sit cockeyed or do I need to pull them back out and get larger trays? If it doesn't hurt performance of the battery, I would just as soon leave em be.

Would say they need to be flat where the fluid level in the batts is level as possible. They sittin long ways or cross ways. If long ways I would just cut the front part of the tray off and set em in and strap em down, not gonna slide forward near as easy as they will backwards.

I would think that the tray is to catch any boil over acid. I would get larger trays.

think you'll be OK if you make sure and keep them topped off with water.

Exactly right.....you do not want acid getting in the boat......thats the reason for the trays.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Are your batteries wet cell or AGM/gel? If they're wet then level em up til the plates are covered. If they're AGM/gel then it don't matter as long as they're not upside down.

My trays aren't solid, they have holes molded in them, so they won't catch the boil over. Spray them down with some foaming cleaner, let sit for a few then hose off good every few months.
