Yep, keep your remote on you. I fish a good bit by myself and havent thought about it.

The remote is NOT waterproof. I've taken mine apart several times to dry it out. Won't be betting my life on it. We all should be wearing an inflatable lifejacket at all times.
Now Mr. Greenjeans will read this and we'll all have to wear jackets at all times.
