Ive put it on my Dont Go list (not that I would hurt it much anyway)!!! Should we conserve our sport and the lake and give her a break? What do you think? We at C.C CAN make a difference in our fisheries!!!!!
for the record, i fished arkabutla yesterday(monday) till about 1pm and i brought home five crappie. i talked to two other boats, one being from missouri and they had some catfish and one very hot looking elderly man who had zero fish upon leaving.
this makes my fifth trip to ol muddy in the last month and a half and i have taken home less than 35 fish, although all nice fish. this is a summer average for me. anywhere from 5-10 fish a trip. cant remember the last time i brought home a limit from there. i didnt, and havent for the last three years, pick up a crappie pole in the state of mississippi or any other state that i can remember during the months of april and may. i hate to see the big fish getting hammered during the spawn along with all the mass confusion from the spring crowd.
as far as the boat ramp being dredged, my trailer was still sitting lopsided on the left side of the ramp and kicking up mud getting on and off the trailer on the right side of the ramp. if it got dredged, we didnt get our moneys worth.
i live 15 minutes from the dam. if i can go there and bring home 5 a trip vs driving to sardis or enid to catch 100 and bring home 5, guess what............... and also, while some folks may being doing well from time to time, i myself have not witnessed the shooting of the fish in a barrel. not since june anyway. there were so many schools of shad on top of the water yesterday i think your lucky to get a crappie to see your minner! but thats just me......
