Dang cheap screws--had to drill out one of the old ones cause the head stripped--almost caused me to get wetall put together and on the boat.

Same as what I have at the console (but it is DI) don't want DI on the front--TM has ducer in it and I don't want to hassle with putting an external one.
I have a 570 on the front know--so the mount and hook up's are the same. Main reason for the 597 is the color, screen size (for the smaller units) and the GPS/Speed for rigging. Would be nice to do the DI or SI I suppose but can't justify the cost really (course I can't justify the cost of any of it really

So you are wanting something color on the front?? OK, think alot of the 7 series stuff will fit that mount as well.

That is true--but for the money I just don't knowThe screen size on the 597 is the same as the 788 and I won't be networking so don't see the need to spend the extra 200-300 bucks. The power output is the same on both so again--don't see the need. Now the 788 does have a few minor features that would be nice but i can live with out --again not worth the extra bucks. Now if money were no object I'd have 1198's all over the place--but I don't think that will ever happen
After spending alot of time looking at all of the units it just seems that the 597 has all the goodies I need and the best price I can go with--I kinda wish I could pick and choose what features i wanted and have it made (and it not cost an arm and a leg) that would be AWESOME!!
