    I bought 6 of the 20dx a few months ago.. I didnt use any backn, but i can yell u from experience that they do NOT count right unless they are fully spooled. About 1/8" from rim is what directions say. I just spooled mine all with 10lb hi vis mr crappie, but will use backing next time

    That's fine if your using a inexpensive line... I'm not. So the backing saves me lots of $$$

    its not expensive to just fill em up with Mr Crappie tho, I had some stuff lieing around so I backed em. Gator the way described is using your noggin, good idea.

    I'm using spider wire... It cost me $60 to put 100 yards on 6 reels

    Yeah... My first trip, i only had them about 1/2 spooled. I fished with 120 feet of line out, came home and measured the 120 feet, and it was actually only 75 feet... Spooled them full and they were on the money!!
