    Default Welds

Thats ugly looks like some bad welds to me, cant see the tm causing it. One thing you might consider after the weld are repaired is a diff. mounting for tm. I have been using MinnKota power drive motors for years,at first i was mounting them about like yours, soon started to have issues with motor hitting the winch during launch. Also started cracking the mounting holes(glass boat) A buddy recommended a retractable tm mount.Got one and sloved the probs.Have had 3 pd since and still using that same mount.Got it from Minnkota.

This is a G3 1860 SC DLX boat.

I like that mount Mr. Jim. I believe that would do the trick. I got a guy that is going to cut out the top deck and reinforce the top with some braces and thicker aluminum... but I might have to look into that retractable mount. The problem is two fold. The motor hangs over the side of the boat in order for it to deploy. The majority of the weight is in the middle of the plate also. I can only get 4 screws in place so the middle and back screws are fixed but the front screws are not. So... the motor rocks back and forth just a little and over time it breaks the aluminum.

The retractable mount would move the motor back enough so the weight and the seesaw action is not right on the edge/lip of the bow. I like that idea.. Will look into it before we do surgery. Thanks!

Btw, I checked with the company the first time this happened, but since I am the 3rd owner it is not covered under warranty.

Mr Jim, where did you come up with that retractable mount ? Im kinda like DG, I am limited to the number of bolts I have in my Terrova and it to hangs over, would be nice to be able to add a couple more bolts to the Terrova mounting and then be able to retract the motor back some

    thanks

I had a heavy duty metal plate made to mount mine on. Have had no problems.

DG, I got a price of 5/16 aluminum, drilled it to the holes in motor mount. The holes that couldn't be bolted to boat I counter sank on the bottom side and bolted it to the motor mount with stainless bolts then mounted plate and motor to the boat with re ain't 4 bolts with large body washers on inside of hull. No rocking and no problems.

Yea I don't thank it's the trolling motor I have an 80 lb terrova on mine and have yet to have a problem. Yesterday in an attempt to launch my boat at butla the trailer fell off the BIG hole at the end of the ramp and the weight of the boat was on the trolling motor sitting on the bow roller. I was expecting it to rip the trolling motor off as I only have 4 bolts holding mine on but thankfully everything was ok.

Be sure when you fix the boat to mount it with bolts, washers and nylock nuts. Do not mount it with screws and those isolator things that you screw into and they swell out. You want it bolted down solid. Also from the cracks around the factory rivits on your deck...it appears that the deck is flexing and causing your problem. A thick aluminum plate covering a larger area than your TM base bolted down to mount your TM on will cure this.

Aluminum angle welded over that seam should cure your problem.
