    I think it's the over 12" law.

Never had this problem with the 10" law. Took the pressure off the larger fish.

greed of locals and all the low water spawn are depleating enid .yes there are out of state people who break the law but locals continue to over harvest . many pride themselves on catching the limit only to return hrs . later at another ramp . the escape of short fish aided by the lower standards allowed below the dam . makes the wardens job a nightmare. they must catch them on the water /in the act . think about it 2-3 wardens under milage restrictions trying to govern thousands .

I dont know why or how, but after the spawn is over and summer starts it seems the water gets FULL of shorts. I know it happens here every year. I have always looked at it as a good thing cause that shows me what a bright future I have in the years to come. Catching quality fish can still be done all during the summer but you gotta go find some larger fish instead of staying in the "dink hole" and change your fishing methods some to get bit. I would assume it's the same for your areas too. The original post made me think about what I see so much around here...people fishing the same way every day, in the same waters every day without changing a thing and now grumbling because all they can catch are short fish.

you can talk about out of staters all you want, but most of the abuse is caused by locals who dont give a darn about rules and regulations. i have seen and heard of many, many locals who live close by and catch several limits a day, or guys that go to these backroads and keep every fish they catch, regardless of length. i agree that out of staters put a lot of pressure on these lakes, but for abuse of the system, we don't have to look beyond our backyard.
