Nowadays if folks would go to work and do their job, they wouldn't need a union. It really chapped me to hear a union gewber say "That ain't what I get paid to do. I'm an electrician or a maintenance man". It don't matter to me what a persons title is. If they're capable of doing the job, they ought to do it. They used to get mad at me because do stuff other than what a Tool & Die maker would normally do. I've swept floors, done electrical work, or whatever I was asked to do because my boss told me too and because I wanted to do a good job for the company. Didn't need a union pay scale to get my raises for me. I've got good friends that are union guys. Heck my dad was even union and they helped him, but he still didn't like them. He worked at a Delphi plant til it was moved to Mexico. He liked 1.5 years til he retired when it closed. Because he was in maintenance, he got to stay on with the plant until the sub- contractors got all the equipment moved. He went to work for 2 more years makin over $26 an hour and jus had to watch. The only thing he did was make fish cookers, grills and anything else he or the plant manager needed. Now I realize why a vehicle cost $40,000 or better. It's to pay for crap like that. But do you think the union cares? Nope. It's all passed on to the citizens of this great country. Thank you unions. We now pay triple for goods because of deals like this.
