    Default Mixed Emotions

today has been full of them, it's Father's Day and for the first time in my life I dont have a Grandfather or Father to celebrate with. My Grandfather, Best Man at my wedding, pasted away this last fall at the age of 95 leaving me without a father-figure in my life. Count your blessing and make as memories as you can if you still have a father in your life, my day has been filled with the memories I hold dear and they confort me some.
On the other side of the coin my 21 year old daughter has been with me all day, what a gift God gave her mother and I. I treasure our time together and am so proud she still wants to hang out with dad.
It's been a bitter sweet day, Happy Father's Day all!!

John, just all the reason to draw closer to "Our Lord" and your children. I too dont have grand parents, or mother or father alive. But my son and his wife made me a fathers day supper and that was a blessing, May God comfort you in you time of sad and glad memories

John, treasure Ree and all your memories. I lost my parents many years ago, but I still miss them. As long as I have memories, they aren't completely gone. God bless, my friend.

Lost both my parents within 5 years of each other and im not even 30 yet. My dad and i always went fishing the saturday of fathers day weekend, but God has blessed me and filled the void with a straping 2 yr old son and will soon be my new and only fishing buddy that can replace dad.

I lost my dad when I was 22, my 3 kids never knew him. My dad was 3 months old when his dad died. So I have never knew him. My mother's dad lived to be a crusty age of 97 and told me I always had a good looking garden, but I didn't know how to farm. My youngest daughter-in-law and son-in-law had to work today. The oldest granddaughter is at school in Atlanta. But spend it with the rest of the family. The 2 youngest grandaughters had a ball playing on the hill. The middle 3 and I poured bullets before dinner.

Not trying to one up you, it's tough, miss them all the time, but I lost my brother, my wife and my mother all within one year. My dad has been gone now for 10 years (age 92) but I'm still using a lot of things I learned from him. I could write many, many stories, some of which I have, about the good times we shared. Some of the fondest childhood memories I have are the trips on Beouf River in Ark with me in front sculling the flatbottom while we fly fished. Since I grew up a stones throw from the bank, u no we spent a lot of time there. Savor what you have, even if its just memories. Make every day the memories you want yours to have.
