Can't miss sure fire far cure:

    50' rope
    27' of 3/4 log chain
    1 DD

    Attach rope to chain
    Attach rope to boat
    Attach chain to DD

Payout 17' o rope and tie to cleat
    Place chained DD in water
Drag for 213 yards at 1.3 mph

    Check spot for gar.

For DD resistant gar, repeat process with 30 and 45 feet of rope out for 316 yards at 1.7 mph.

Do not pay out the full 50'. It leaves no slack to let DD struggle which is the most beneficial portion of the gar repellant. It has the added benefit of being the most amusing as well.
