That is correct ......the advanced AP has the circle around it.....it works by taking GPS readings and navigating from reading to reading so if its windy you will be blown off course between readings thus you will be going zig zag instead of straight. The plain AP without the circle works by compass reading and therefore will keep you on a lot straighter course. Just hold the button down untill you hear the beep and you will be set on AP without the circle.

Talked to Minn kota and they said there was some kind of problem with unit. It should not do what's its doing.

I'd take it out again and use just the auto pilot before you decide there is a problem. I think most here had that issue until understanding how those two settings work differently. It was decently windy yesterday? If so, advanced AP is going to make big corrections trying to keep you on a GPS plotted course. Whereas the regular AP will keep you headed in the same direction allowing the boat to drift in the wind while doing so.

There was little or no wind. Let me try to explain what was happening again... You set auto pilot and almost immediately it makes a hard left and steers way off coarse... On spot lock it went in circles. Minn kota says the voltage must be low going into control board. 1st they want my to bypass trolling motor connector and hard wire unit. If this don't fix it send it back to them power board is bad.
