    Default prop question

these COE's can chew a prop up as i have learned the hard way.. this info is on the top of the foot. does it tell me what i need to know to start a search for a new prop or is it in ref to something entirely different?? it is a 50hp merc 2stroke and i think 2006 model.. any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated..

Some props have the diameter and pitch marked on them. Thats what you need to know.

Never seen that in a foot but. Odd too cause u could put any number of props on that boat depending on a lot of factors but the info means

    12" diameter
    22" pitch
1.83:1 gear ratio in the foot.

Yep. Look the prop over 22" pitch sounds awfull high for a 50. Mine is 225 hp and is only 25" pitch.

Merc's website has a prop calculator that will tell you what you need. It takes boat size, weight, motor size, and other things into consideration.

Pull the prop off and take it to EDS Props shop, they can recondition a prop cheaper than buyin a new one.
