Mono and have never lost a crank. You are targeting a fish less than 3pds. (its a crappie not a redfish). When thet get to the top there is no fight anyways.Plus you can a get mile of it at BPS for cheap.

It's not about the fish... It's the cover, catfish, and gar. If you don't like braid don't use it. If you do use it.

Yeah it is strong, flexable and has a small diameter, but that crap should be controlled. They should not let just anybody buy it and use. Should have to prove that you at least have a little sense before they sell it to you, and then if you buy 250 yards this year, to replace it you should have to turn in 225 yards to buy another spool.
Everybody says "well I use it so I don't lose my bait". Then the same yahoos will pull off 20 yards of it cut if off the reel, roll it in a ball and throw it overboard, or leave it in the bottom of the boat to blow out later. Well I hate to tell you if you ever hook this crap in the water, you aint getting your bait back, whether you are running braid or not. Then all of the extra line you just lost contributes to the problem.

It is a good product, but since it is like nylon and never breaks down it is very frustrating to snag this stuff in the water. It does not give. You, your equipment, and or your patience is what gives in these situations. Have you ever tried to unwind that crap off of a trolling motor? It sure is fun.

And yes I am especially talking to all of you green carpers with the DD22's and the Carolina rigs.

I use 20# braid when pulling cranks. With no stretch, I can tell if a bait is not running perfect just by the vibrations of my rod tip. You will loose less baits due to hang ups with braid also. Any other time I use mono.

But when you get crossed up it takes all day to untangle or as Chilly says cut it out and throw over the side. I think mono will untangle easier.

It is harder to untangle but for me it's worth the trouble to use when pulling cranks. That is the only time I use it though. I buy the cheap stuff from Hong Kong off of eBay, $12.50 and free shipping for 300 meters.

To help with it getting tangled and wrapped around your rod, I use bow wax on my rods. That helps. I've also tried to lightly wax the first 20 yards of braid and it seems to help. Sounds like a lot of work to use braid, but I like so I'll continue to use it.

I'm still convinced that fish can see braid in clearer water. I've witnessed it on several occasions. 4 poles with braid and 4 poles with mono. The mono poles get bit 10-1 over braid. In stained to dirty water it doesn't make as big a difference.

No way on earth I woild EVER use braid in shallow water spawning conditions. With zero stretch you are gonna have alot of fish pull off. Then again I might not be tellin yall all this. That being said I dont really like it for anything else either.
    Stick yo jig in there!
