Did you skip class or sleep during that part of MS history in school?
Leflore, french homesteaders, establisted a trading post on the pearl river. The seatlement was called Leflore Bluff, which became the third capitol of MS (Jackson). One of the sons married a Chootaw girl, daughter of Yocona. They had 1 son, Greenwood.
There is more to this, but this is a starter.
I fished Turkey creek a few years ago from the bank, about 100 yards from the old bridge. I did good that day.
