ScottV I have never heard of self rising corn meal. I just normally use straight corn meal, flour, eggs & milk myself. I have never found a mix that I have liked to fry crappie in.

This is the brand I use. It makes the best hushpuppies too.

I like the Zatarains crispy southern fish fry. I don't do hush puppies anymore. I just make cornbread and put onions and jalepeno peppers in it and bake it. Mighty fine......

I may have missed it, but did you post th number. I want to try this.

Anybody ever tried the Lousiana Fish Fry (BLue Bag)? Just wondering how it compares to the Southern Star.
