Figure we better know the facts. Who knows the facts?


We all know that you can get a BUI for running the motor when you've had too many.

What about the trolling motor?
If yes, what if the trolling motor is on autopilot?
And if yes to those two, what if you are paddling?

We need to know my rights

I agree. Course I wont have any alcohol on my boat anymore but I dont know the laws. Many many years ago the wardens used to check boats BEFORE they launched and told guys they couldnt take the coolers of beer out on the lake in their boats. Wonder if that was the law?!?

The fact is .... Don't drink when your on the water!!! It could be your last, or worst, somebody else's!!!!!!!!
That's what camp is for, after the fishing!!!!!

The Mississippi Alcohol Boating Safety Act prohibits anyone from operating a boat powered by a motor of 25 horsepower or greater while intoxicated due to alcohol or any combination of alcohol, controlled substance, or drugs... to make it short it basically says when you operate a boat in MS that you consent to a breathylizer under suspicion from a LEO. content level .10 or greater is subject to arrest and refusal is also subject to arrest. Seems to be that running a trolling motor or paddling you should be good, but I like to keep it safe and wait until I start cleaning my days haul before I drink not to mention its a hefty $1000 fine. And its also a felony if u cause a simple scratch to someone while intoxicated. Be safe!

Interesting. I wonder what's up with the 25 hp rule? That's like saying you can't get a DUI if you drive a 4 cylinder car
