check out "rivnut" I think is what its called, same concept except NO rubber. You must have a MG TM as those "isolator bolts" were used on my MG. They worked fine for 7 yrs for me, but when I upgraded last year, and was removing the old MG, those isolator bolts were definately shot.
If you have a metal boat the rivnut is the way to go!

Funny you metioned that...Actually its a MK Edge. But when I look at drawings of the MinnK and the MG , I only find those isolator bolts on the MG drawings.Quote:

The rubber grommets also act as shock asobers, preventing metal to metal banging which leads to bolts and nuts coming loose.
Someone just did a post a couple of weeks ago about the same problem. Talked about a new toggle bolt sold by home depot and lows. Has a real strong T and it is all made in one piece you drill 1/2 in hole insert t and slide down a plastic lock collar that holds everything in place until you install your bolt and tighten it up.Sorry I can't remember what they are called but hopefully some who does will chime in. You install it like a pop rivet. Instead its a threaded insert. It squeezes the metal like a pop rivet and wont come out unless you drill it out.Quote:
