    You don't need a quick release unless you're going to be taking it off often, just the aluminum plate, like Cray said.

    Exactly.... and make sure the plate is thick It really needs to be 1/2 inch aluminum stock.

    The plate I had made is 3/8 aluminum and there is no movement other than the boat going forwrd!
