    Default Green Carp

Well I know the rule says no picture it didn't happen! But,I caught a green carp that was pushing 6 lbs.today in a Southaven city park. The wind was rough. I was standing in a corner throwing down a bank of the levee when the KVD shallow crankbait got tangled in some algea that was forming about 3 or 4 ft deep. I snapped it loose and started a crank and stop when a green carp inhaled my bait. The thing spit up a head of a huge crawdad as I was trying to lip him!My bait was all the way down this fishes mouth and hung in it's gill flap. I eased the hooks out not to do any damage to the fish and thought about keeping it but just had to let it go! These 2 ponds are loaded with small crappie that will never get any bigger because they are over populated. If you live in Southaven and you want to take your kids fishing and enjoy all the other things that are available this is a great little place to go!!Anybody else have any places like this that they know about? Here is the location of the pond I was fishing>Southaven, MS

Isn't telling a green carp story here the same as bragging about your really cute, fat girlfriend? Hehehehehe

Them ponds like that will surprise ya.

As many people that fish these ponds you don't see that many big fish that came out of there. I put one back last year over 7.Last year I was fishin a crappie jig in there and had a bass on about 5 and it bent the hook and got off. Some young guys had walked past me and went arount to another spot to fish.Well I just happened to notice that fish return and realized there was 2 fish there on a bed. I didn't have any bass tackle but when those young guys came back I stopped them and showed them and they started to try to catch the fish. I loned my polarized glasses to 1 kid so he could see them. 1 kid was fishin too fast with a spinner and another had a worm. The kid with the spinner even fell in the lake and I thought for sure the fish were gone but they came back. The kid with the worm was patient and all of a sudden he set the hook and caught the male. He got it out and I asked what you gonna do with it. He thought for a second and said put it back? I asked if they had a phone with a camera and they did. So they took a great picture and let the fish go! Only in a pond like that!Just wish those crappie would get bigger. Stood in 1 place and caught 78 one day on a cork and jig! And you're right about the fat girlfriend. THERE'S MORE TO LOVE!!!LOL!!!
