My face feels like a hot skillet and my neck is alot redder than usual. But it was a good day.
I blanked on the Butla Saturday when a 5 to 10 mph wind turned into a 10 to 15 mph wind. Trolled both sides of the river channel from Kelley's Crossing down past Bayou Point. Picked up lots of fish on my sonar, just couldn't find anything they wanted to eat.A friend I work with went to Sardis said the lot at Engineers Point was full and the overflow was almost full so he went to the Butla and blanked out too. Went to Mound City Sunday, the wind blew about 20 to 25mph.Trolled the middle and the deeper outside bend down to the north end, didn't get a bite. Those fish had to be burried up in the thick stuff! Several boats trolling I saw a few fish get caught. Later the wind shifted and it was slick on the levee side a couple hours before dark.I went to a single jig pole and caught a nice one off a isolated cypress tree in about 5 ft. of water. I thought I had a mini pattern, boy was I wrong. That fish hit a pink n white tube about 2 ft deep! I fished every single cypress in deeper water I could before dark and didn't get bit again. The surface temps got up to almost 56 degrees in spots. Had fun anyway, just being out in God's creation. That's why they call it fishin!!Asian carp are a definate trip flying past your head though!! Bayou Point and Kelly's Crossing ramps are the only ones still in water at Butla!
OLD GEEZER FISHERMEN NEVER DIE, THEY JUST SMELL THAT WAY!!
