I've seen 'em use cane poles a lot on certain lakes......guess you could use anything. I prefer trolling rods myself....B&M Prostaffs and Capps & Coleman's mostly. I like 16 footers and haven't seen too many jig poles that long. LOL!

I was tryin to make a solid decision for this year today, did too much switchin last year, hung my capps and colemans up last year, all that parabolic bend doesnt fly with lily pad stems and stump fields, (just my opinion I know a lot of guys like em, but I need to be able to snatch free when I need to) was fishin 14 and 16 bgjp's (jig poles) next to 14 and 16 pst's (trolling poles) the jig poles might have lighter tips and be better for light bite detection, but they bounce like a basketball in waves and the pst's rode smooth, and there was no problem seein' bites. Conclusion was use pst 14s in 12 ft+ and 16's any shallower, save the jig poles for pushin light stuff (jigs) real shallow. Just my 3 cents.

I have a few 16.5 ft slow troll rods, 2 14 ft slow troll. And a few other brands, all 16.5 ft. I picked up 8 more 16.5 rods at a sale for 15. each with a cheap reel. I saw that sportsmans warehouse only has the black widow, but it's made like the slow troll.

In my opinion the best slow trolling pole for 1/2 ounce and under is the 14 BGJP. Hands down. Capps has his own poles but I would be willing to bet he uses this pole 90 % of the time.

( I can get ya a good deal on some new ones though new BnMs are goin up soon.)

They almost doubled in price when sportsmans warehouse reopened. Going from the slow troll to the black widow.
