I use 12s and 14s, mainly cause that's what I've got. I see no difference in how they catch fish though.

i actually have seen something like that before
most of mine are 12's, and they work fine. believe it or not, i use a couple 10 footers sometimes on the front, and they catch fish just the same.
I use 16 footers when fishing shallow, 8' and under, and use 12 footers when fishing deeper, 8' and above. They are alot easier to handle on the 12 footers. I have tried 20 footers, too much for me. Most of the lakes stay fairly stained around here though. Just get your rod holders set so they can get the 12 footers as far away from the boat as possible.
