The HiTeks have a flat flush mounted base. You just loosen one bolt and the rod holder will slide out....so easy to remove when not needed.

My dad ran across a deal on a fiberglass 1988 Glastron w/a 88 evinrude and bought it for me. I am goingto buy it from him once we finish fixing it up. The motor cranks and runs great except when your idling for a long period of time and then it will go dead, but it will crank right back up. With a little carborator work that can be fixed.
What i am needing help with is....what is the best way or type rod holders to put on a fiberglass boat. My dad has never owned a glass boat so we are in the dark on drilling in them or just how to rig them up. I have read the thread below about the hitech rod holders and i love them, but they look stationary. Has anyone ever had the rod holders that go under your seat for easy removal if your not going to be trolling? And if i do go with the hitechs, how to they mount(in the floor or in the fiberglass.
Thanks for the help. I am so excited about having a boat with me in Jackson now. I have had to travel to Philadelphia every weekend i wanted to fish so i could go with my dad to Okatibee. He was scared to put his boat on the Rez. Now i have to find a couple of places to go below 43 so i can repay him for always having the fish found for me at Okatibee. No kidding, i have never been on the upper part of the Rez and would love to meet up with some of the regulars of the lake to show me some of the places i have always heard about....(the S curve, welfare hole, beaver hut).

I am looking at these, I know everyone here are Hi-Tek freaks and they do fish good but I like the looks of these and the price is comparable. Good luck and hope you enjoy your boat.

I'll help ya as best I can but here's the best thing I can do to help to learn barnett. Go to bass pro and pick up a lake maps. You can have it with you at all times and it's water proof. It'll help ALOT

Rees, I know I said I wasn't gonna help ya never, but I guess I'll make a liar outta myself. Have you ever owned a set of tite loc holders? These are on the same style as they are. I had 3 sets and they were awful. The adjustment screw is terrible to adjust & they won't stay tite. You can do what ya want, but I honestly hated mine.
I own a set from cumberland and have bought some other stuff from him. He is a great person to deal with and will accomodate you any way possible. He has a great product also. I have had mine for 2 years now and have fished them hard with no issues. I endorse these. Good luck

Thanks for the advice. My thing is I am not sure the High Tek will hold a crankbait rod as good, the front part of the holders are a little deeper with the cumberland. I will do more pulling than slow trolling and that is a fact.
As far as owning any, I have not. Fished with Feelay last year and the High-Teks done great spider rigging.
