So I previously posted about being in the hunt for some new choos for my girltruck. I was considering buying some Goodyear wranglers shipped to my door for $600, but I couldn't get the correct size and the 265-70-17's were going to throw of my speedometer so I decided to go another route.
At my local Gateway, I had previously been quoted a "guesstimate" out in their parkinglot of $875 total for some standard Toyo's. Good thing I called them this morning because the guy told me the idjet in the parkinglot had lost his mind and that it would be $1032 out the door. This made me want to vomit.
Since they seem to have good reviews, I just bought these. $632 to my door and Gateway will put them on for another $60. $700 sound a lot better than a thousand.

Hope I didn't just mess up.

yep my thoughts exactly.
I've not had good luck with gateway. Paid them a LOT of $$$$ for new tires , brakes, bearing, and an alignment on my old expedition. Thing still pulled to one side and while they tries 3 more alignments and verified a brake wasnt draggin over the course of several months...the tires were wearing bad. They wouldn't stand behind the tires nor their work. SO i didn't go back to them fire years. Then I had a flat right in front of the one in OB and they plugged the tire rather than patch. Didn't see it till I got home(I shouldve watched them repair it...I know) then when I took it back same day they said they didnot put the plug in it..."we don't do that" the guy says. I'm not impressed with them
I won't ever go back to the one in Southaven again--didn't tightened lug nuts on a front wheel one time--but I have had good luck in Senitobia. I can and do most things myself so Tires and alignment is about all I need them for.
Just dropped $792 with Gateway in Ridgeland Thursday for a set of Yokahoma 245/70/R17. The only complaint I have with this store is they tell everyone that comes in " About an hour" to get it done. Knowing its gonna be 3 hours ! Kinda like that 9 o'clock doctor appointment that actually gets you in around 11:30 !
I buy most of my tires at the Farm Co-Op. I pick em out and they order them and put them on for me and balance them. Been very satisfied so far. But I have to agree, that price does sound a mite high.
Oooo la la
