I'd use the hi-vis, not because of the fish, but because I can see it.

I fish clear water lakes (Bay Springs and several state lakes) as much as I do Sardis, Grenada and Aberdeen. I know the hi-vis line is all the rage on muddy water, but what about fishing clear water? I've heard hi-vis spooks fish in clear water. What are your thoughts/opinions on this?
I'm leaning on not using any hi-vis at all and just using some kind of clear or fluorocarbon on my reels. If you were gonna do this and still fish all the lakes I just mentioned, what would you use?
Thanks

saw a video a while back that someone took with an underwater camera. the were catching crappie with jigs using hi-vis line. the water was very clear and you COULD NOT see the line. Hi-vis is all I use, our lakes will get clear sometimes but have some stain most of the time. also dont think the fish are that smart anywho
Hi Vis on all water clear or stained.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I normally have a snap on the end of my hi-vis line and I have per-tied rigs with clear line that I use. I keep the rigs wrapped on swimming noodles.

Looks like most on here agree on hi-vis....but, I know of a couple of my fishing buddies--one uses clear line and one uses hi-vis--that were fishing a clear water lake and my buddy that was using the hi-vis couldn't get a bite to save his life while my other buddy was catching fish right and left with the clear line.....and yes, they were using the same baits.....next time they went back, both had on clear line and both caught fish....
I am sure you can catch fish in clear water on hi-vis line as most all of you can attest, but I believe it does have some kind of affect on clear water fish. I don't believe you will catch AS MANY on hi-vis as clear line. JMO and you know what they say about opinions. Would love for some other people to chime in on this with their stories......
Sounds like you had your mind made up before you asked your question.
I'm not sure about Hi Vis but I know for a fact they see braid in clear water.
