I been selected for jury duty three times. Just got a notice from U.S. District Court of Eastern Arkansas that my name is included in the pool for the entire year of 2012. Not selected but could be at any time during the entire year.

I thought if you were a convicted felon you could not serve

I had it a couple months ago, wasnt federal but I did end up getting seated on a murder case and we were sequestered for a week. They took everybody's phones and they had the hotel staff take the power cords from the tv's in the rooms and they even took the clock radios. And dont assume you get your own room, they double you up. Got to spend an entire week in a hotel room with a total stranger with no phone, tv, or radio. Lucky for me the guy was pretty normal and we got along really well. As for the jury duty, you spend a ton of time waiting around in the jury room while the lawyers and judge talk about stuff you're not supposed to hear. I'd say we probably only spent about 20% of the time hearing the case and the other 80% waiting around in the jury room. Toughest part was being away from the family and not being able to communicate with them at all. They fed us well though, that was the only bright spot.
