Thanks guys for all the ideas and help. Heres some pics of the axle. http://tapatalk.com/mu/62ef0121-29d7-b47c.jpghttp://tapatalk.com/mu/62ef0121-2a0b-a013.jpghttp://tapatalk.com/mu/62ef0121-2a1e-f599.jpghttp://tapatalk.com/mu/62ef0121-2a3b-8369.jpg
Grind that weld off the back side and you can press or knock the spindle out.....get new spindle the same size and insert and weld it on the back side. I think Motion Industries has those spindles....not sure.
Your Co-pilot got you home, doubt you would have made it 30 more miles at hyay speeds.
I'm with G, looks like a pretty easy fix, good luck.
Man that axle is uglier than WB and DD.
Just looking at the pics I believe that spindle can be saved. If you can get what looks like in the picture a rear inner bearing race off the spindle I don't think there is much, if any, damage there. Clean that area up with some emery cloth and little file work on the spindle where a new outer bearing will fit on the shaft should do it. If the rear seal surface is rough you might have to add a speedy sleeve for the rear seal to ride on, like Feelay said, but I have saved them looking a lot worse than that. Good luck.
Them axles arent that expensive. Northern supply has them in their catalog. If the spindle isnt welded in straight the tires will wear bad.
My tires are already cocked a little to where the insides of my tires wear more. If the axle can't be straitened, a new axle may be my best bet.
Satdoc did it right Scott.....he got the rest of the trailer and a boat when he bought his new axle
Looking at pic 3, it appears to be rurnt beyond anything I would trust even with a new spindle that without some exact way to aline the both of them is asking for trouble.
I know a new one could be costly, but peace of mind sometime is...
