Go to a welding shop....they can cut the old spindle out and weld in a new one....you can find a spindle of equal dimensions as the one your axle has at TSC...or most any Farm Equipment place. I have a friend that has a shop nearby and he replaces spindles on trailers all the time.
Goodtime helped me replace one in an axle today.Thumbs Up
Thanks dude!!!!!
The place in Collinsville, Boat & ATV World, burned a couple years ago. I called Duncan today and they said the guy I needed to talk to had left and would be back Monday. I called Airport Marine in Birmingham and the guy told me he could contact Ranger, who bought out Stratos, and get me an axle assembly. With that heavy a boat and a single axle, would a welded on spindle stand up?
That's what's in there now isn't it? I ask again, did it gaul the spindle up that bad?
My axle has the torsion ends on it like in the top picture but the axle is all one piece. http://tapatalk.com/mu/a6890b8a-7eba-6e7a.jpg
Yea John, the spindle is flat on the bottom.
That's cool and I may have missed you saying that.
That spindle still inserts in the axle somehow, it prolly can be replaced. Good luck.
Sounds like a torsion style axle. Some of them have replaceable spindles that screw out of the torsion arm. Most of the time that flat spot on the bottom doesn't go all the way to the inside boss on the spindle. May be able to clean it up with a file enough to get a new bearing on. You should be able to look at the fit of the inner bearing race then to tell if it will work or not. Good luck.
That type spindle is replaceable, any good welding/machine shop should be able to handle it. Hey there is an old guy in MCC that has a welding/machine shop in Jackson.... I think its George Walker.
