What type (style and brand) of reel do you prefer for jigging?

Baitcasters with a thumb bar release seem to work best, that's what I am on the look out for.

Deep water I am using spinning reels now, but during the spring I change over to the mini bait casters.

I have used all kinds, trigger spins, spinning, little crappie type caster and cheap WM bait casters and for me the WM bait casters work far better than any other. I keep the drag loose and it's very easy to just reach up and strip a little more line off if needed with no loops caused by that and if you ever hook a big cat you will be glad for that type reel. Just MHO.

Confusing question. Spider rigging and jigging aren't the same thing. I use baitcasters on my long rods for spider rigging in a rod holder and a metal mini on my 10ft jigging (dipping) rod.

I use low profile baitcasters on the long rods. On my jig piles i use west point crappie reels, the cheap plastic ones due to the light weight. Spend a little more on your trolling reels, you will be glad you did.
    Stick yo jig in there!

Whatever YOU like, and feel more comfortable with. I use spinning, but that's what I like best. Prolly really don't matter other than personal preference. When the fish see it, it's to late.
