There is also 4 cabins on the east side of the lake at Okatibbee as well as two campgrounds.

PERSONALLY, if we were to change one, I'd rather change Washington for Eagle or Chotard instead of Okatibbee, as long as it was in Feb or March but many wouldn't make that one either. We had this exact discussion last year about the lakes. We want as many as possible at each one and you MIGHT get 10 teams in a Okatibbee tourney. Same with Eagle or Chotard, MAYBE 10 teams would show up. Sure, several will say YEH, I'll come but on T Day, look who shows. It's an hour n a half to Eagle and Grenada, 1:45 to Chotard and Okatibbee, this is from North Jackson. Add those times together from Grenada to Jackson, then to Okatibbee, 3 hours. Then look at from North Miss. 4 or 5 hours and we have some that try and make them all but live in other states. 6-7 hours from there vs 3 or 4 hours to say Washington. I'm TRYING to use common sense here to get as many as possible where they can make it. The shorter the distance, the more are gonna come.

Let's dont' confuse DD.....any more than is necessary just now. I like the idea of a 2 Day Championship too and I'm open to paying down the field some, but the point has always been to have a nice big check (or cash actually) for the champ...so I'd rather keep 1st place at lion's share and decent to second and a little to 3rd maybe??? Just throwing that out there. I also really really like the idea of a floating FJ with the date settled, but the lake to be named at the last minute.......that'd make it tough for folks coming from way off and hotels and logistics and whatnot...might limit the number of boats some, but might just make for the best fishing that can be had for a given month.....Also, I'd prefer to keep it at a 3 tournament qualification even if we take it up to a twelve tournament schedule....My thinking being that we want to encourage participation as much as possible. These days, it's getting harder and harder to commit time and resources to fishing and the bigger the requirement, the less committment we're liable to get.

All that said, let's keep to setting the schedule for now and when the Championship is over we can set about making tweaks to the rules and structure for next year.

DD you need to listen to Holic. Okatibbee would make for a fine tournament. Teams would drive from miles around just to see if Steve and Scott really catch all them fish we see pics of. There would be a 25 boat armada out their following Scott and Major around.

Why drop Washington when there was a 14# bag caught there last year?

You gewber, you can go another way from Grenada and cut an hour off that drive.

DD is a ignernt gewber, therefore when he makes a good point, I suspect that someone is feeding him his lines.

Me...I've always looked at Grenada, Sardis, Enid as the core of the lakes and every other lake is a "flier". Even Butla, Ross Barnett and Washington. Left to my own, my core would always be there and I'd rotate fliers in and out and try to hit some fisheries we normally don't get.....yes a long haul will limit some, but we also might pick up some boats that wouldn't come over to the core lakes either. I wouldn't mind this year the flier being over at Columbus, provided we double check to make sure that Minner will be busy on that day...just like all the years past when we've scheduled everything. My thinking is...try something new. And if we keep the qualifications at 3 lakes, if it's too far or too expensive for somebody, they can sit that one out - no harm, no foul. That's just me.

List of fliers I'd like to see us get to eventually?
    Columbus
    Pickwick
    Ferguson
    Chotard
Bee - ramp really, really stinks

    And some others.

Make the championship at Okatibbee and then they couldn't use the milage excuse.

wb, i was gonna suggest bee, but its an awful ramp, its ok whn the water is high. as for fergie, it is not very good in early spring, as the river tends to be very high each year, it will be a better tourney on in the summer. it would be nice to add ferguson.
