    Default Boat trailer maintenance

I need to know a lot more about the spare parts one needs to keep with them for emergencies. "G" added this to the air pressure thread.

Sure 20 lbs. will get you somewhere....but its better to have the correct pressure. I do carry a 12 volt plug in air compressor with me and also tire plugs and the tools to put them in with. I also carry a complete trailer hub with bearings races and seals installed and packed with grease. I also carry two complete sets of wheel bearings, races , and seals, grease and tools to install them. I don't like having to leave my boat and trailer on the side of the road while I travel around in unfamiliar territory trying to find parts on a Sunday afternoon.

I bought a new aluminum floor jack to keep with me, also a 12v air compressor and the tire plugs but I don't know about the hubs etc. If you were going to carry the least amount of stuff, what would it be?

You can get a complete hub/bearing set-up at BP in the box ready to go. I also carry a 12v impact wrench to make things easy. I carry a wire connector kit for emergencies.

I had to leave Steve, with my .357, on the side of the road going into Choctaw Landing at Grenada back in April. I broke my outside trailer bearing on my boat trailer and had to leave it to find parts. I was lucky and was back in about an hour. Now I carry extra bearings, races, grease seals and grease.

That's one ruff road but if I were gonna fish Grenada in the morning that's where I would be.

I'm interested in knowing more about the complete hum assembly that G mentioned.

Major you can buy the complete thing from BPS greased and ready I think. Take old one off put on new one and carry on, dont forget a new dust cap seems like you always loose the dust cap when a bearing goes out.
