Instead of ice,I take empty water bottles, fill with tap water and freeze. Put those in my cooler, take one out every once in a while and put in with minnows. Have the 5 gal bucket with liner and loose very few minnows and do not have aerator but will soon.

It's times like these when I'm reminded of a quote I read here once. I think it was Munta that said "Ya'll sure do make Crappie fishing complicated".

I will say I like the way Bigger has his cooler set up with the O2 bottle and all. Dang minners were trying to jump out of the cooler the next morning. Nate, how much does it cost to get a O2 rig for a cooler, O2 included

Back when I used minners I had trouble keepin them alive too. I made a bunch of minner keepers that didn't work very well but my last one seems to do the best. It's a cooler with a 12 volt bilge pump and a PVC pipe with spray holes drilled in it and a timmer. Clips to the battery. Cost too much tho. I also used frozen water bottles too. I wud start the night b4 with tap water and ice from the frig and use the blue stuff from bps get the water cold and it stayed cold with little effort.

The water bottles work all right but when you get home you gotta put them in the freezer and then try to remember to get them out the next time you go fishing. As I have said before: I live by the KISS theory: Keep It Simple Stupid!

The regulator is about 50 bucks and the bottle is around 80 initial cost. after that its only 12 bucks a refill and the small bottle will last about 2 weeks constantly.
