    As far as I know, I've never been to Smithville, but you gotta admire those people trying to rebuild and not sitting there whining about their lack of help from the gub-ment.

    Smithville is a small town between Fulton and Amory. If you weren't going to Smithville for a reason, you 'd never know it was there. I did some surveying on the main highway years ago and we ate lunch there everyday and the folks were great. Nice little out-of-the-way town. The mayor is an old buddy of mine. They won't give up.

    In the article Mayor Kennedy said the funding was coming from state and federal agencies.

    Yea they are getting very little help, is what I hear around here. At one time they was not even going to try to rebuild. But I think the towns people are determinded to rebuild.
