    Default Roof replacement Day 1

    Day 1

Roofers want tractor with bucket loader on site by 10 a.m. Rental tractor is ordered last week and delivered on schedule. (Tractor rental company owner knows what the tractor will be used for and has known about it for three months and was re-reminded about it last week.) Pull tractor up to edge of house, scrape old shingles into bucket. Back tractor away from house and drive it over to roll-off dumpster. Attempt to dump. Will NOT dump due to a piece being the wrong part for this particular loader. But, hey, the old shingles do look mighty nice in the bucket. Assess problem. Take off piece, take it 5 miles and have someone drill two new holes in part. Return part to loader, replace. Voila'. We now have dumping abilities. Return tractor to house two more times; fill bucket; dump successfully. Next bucketful ready for dumping; start tractor. Starter engages and won't stop. Disconnect wires. Call tractor dewd requesting another tractor be delivered due to circumstances. Tractor dewd agrees. Dewd drives 15 miles and arrives with new starter minus the "new" tractor. Removes old starter. Installs new starter. Starts tractor. Let's make that attempts to start tractor. Tractor doesn't start. Defective "new" starter. Dewd returns to shop (30-mile round trip) to get new solenoid. Returns to tractor and replaces. Now we are four hours "into" the job. What will happen next????

If anything else happens, I'm NOT going home.

PS Thank goodness I'm at work and not at home or else there'd be law enforcement on scene due to the shootin' Rofl

Ain't construction fun? Now that the equipment is on site and working, the workers will dissappear next. They will be gone until Friday, or payday, looking for a check on the 2.5 squares of tear off they did in half a day...

Only thing that's missing to complete that thought, Maj, is the ducktape. They'll prolly have some of that tomorrow.

I had a new roof put on last fall, my Messicans didn't use no stinkin tractor! Just one guy and a wheelbarrow. They did the entire job, tear off and re-roof in a day and a half. Don't remember how many squares but it's a 3200 sq ft house with a 12/12 pitch.

I think there were 4 tearing off, 4 roofing behind them and 2 on the ground hauling and cleaning up.
