Default Depthfinder Stand for front of boat...

I am looking for some ideas on getting a stand built to place a depthfinder in the front of my boat about waist high. I don't know if i want it to be removeable or what... Also who makes them? I think hitek makes them but EZ Poleholder might make them also...

I am upgrading my SI. I am putting a SI ducer on my Terrova and another GPS puck so I can move the head unit to the front or the back easily. I would like to have a stand so I can see the SI easily and push buttons without bending over every minute. I push buttons constantly on that thing... I just haven't figured out in my mind what I am going to do with the wires and the stand when the SI unit is place at the console and not at the front of the boat. Any ideas? Got any pictures of what yall have done?

    Thanks for the help..

Since I read in another post that you are wanting to upgrade from 898 to 1198....yes, you want it removable. Either that or made out of 3" thick I beam with supports tied to the deck, the gunnels, the stringers and maybe the console. The 1198 is a heavy piece and a single strut from the floor waste high is going to produce some kind of vibration and force even in light chop.

Food for thought. In other words, you owe me lunch.

That looks nice Don G, did you make yourself?

I've thought about doing something like that too, I attached a picture below of the way I have my rodholders mounted on the side. Those are 1 foot long 3/8" threaded bolts (available at the hardware store) mounted to DM bases. I think DM also makes a 1/2" threaded base which would probably be sturdy enough to support a large HB unit, at least for trolling purposes. I think you could bolt a piece of square aluminum tubing to the top of it to mount the bracket or Ram Mount on. Of course these are easily removable.

Mine is similar to dg's. I can't see how he mounted his to the floor, but mine is mounted with a 3/4 floor flange. The up pipe is 3/4 X 18" with a 1/4" plate welded to it. I drilled a hole in the plate large enough for the pipe to fit into before welding. I ran the ducer cable and power wires thru the flange, pipe and plate.

Check out the telescoping option on Allison boats. Purty neat for an ignernt bass fisherman's boat. Bet a crappie fella suggested it though.

Thanks for the ideas fellas.. I really like the idea of putting the wires inside the pipe/square tubing... WB is right.. Yeah I said it... It will definitely have to be removed when riding. I surely do not want to damage it. The E-Ped link you sent looks real good. I never thought about a telescopic stand. That would work wonders. I need to get with EZ on that one... See what he can come up with... Keep the ideas and pictures coming. Yall got the couple marbles in my head rolling right now...
