Sounds good BigRiver.. Post em up.. I want to see them...
Say, DG00, u extendded invites yet? I'm hongry.. Maj will go at the drop of a hat..
Zack, I made some of these for my boat, and have made several for my customers. The only ones I had at the store were holding my ram mount rod holders, but the ones for the graphs just have a wider top mounting plate. I can make them as tall as you need. http://tapatalk.com/mu/a6cd0fd2-ae54-c8cd.jpghttp://tapatalk.com/mu/a6cd0fd2-ae6f-5182.jpg
You can remove the stand by loosening the allen screws. I use small bolts in there now. I screw the base down with #14 SS screws. http://tapatalk.com/mu/a6cd0fd2-aee0-12e7.jpg
Nothing fancy, and easy to make. I didn't plan on selling any, I just wanted something to keep me from bending over to adjust my graph. They work great even on rough water. My 8" Lowrance stays put.
EZ - Just made the annoucement... Let me know if that is good with yall...
BR - That looks good. I am looking for something that is adjustable if possible. I am gonna see what EZ can come up with and get back with ya..

lets see what he came up with
Well crappieseeker... We met up at Hamil's for a deep conversation on design and fuel for the fire. Once the design was refined to a tee... we agreed to it and off EZ went to work. EZ worked up this beauty of a stand. We met up again at Trace Grill for further discussion and the final adoption of the design. The stand would adjust in height, had an aluminum plate cut to fit the Ram ball mount perfectly, had a stop button installed so the stand would not slip all the way out, cleaned up the pipe and powder coated what was steel, and welded a stand to the bottom of it to mount to the boat so it would be super steady. It was a beauty I tell ya... Absolutely exactly what we talked about..... EZ had it built and all we need is the Ram mount....
Then... Then it happened. I had been waiting about a week for the Ram mount to come in. The Ram mount was suppose to be 8 inches long. I got that Ram mount and it was the MOTHER OF ALL RAM MOUNTS! The overall length was well over 12 inches... You add the HB giimbal and it is about 14-15 inches at least. I have never seen something so big in my life. It was so big, I really didn't need the stand. It was so big it would make the stand look super small and just not look right. The RAM mount through all my plans off. The diameter of the ram was three times the size of the pipe we had designed for adjustable height.
So I did what any good engineer would do... Aborted the design... Agreed that I was defeated.. And mounted the Ram mount solo to the boat.. and apologized a million times to EZ.... I really hated that I wasted his time but hope I kept a little meat on his bones in the process... And again I say.. That Ram mount is HUGE!
Below is some pictures of what I ended up with. I now have two separate mounting locations for my 1198. Two separate transducers and gps pucks. I can mount it in the back for trolling and place it in the front for bass fishing, drop shot'n, and crappie jigging. I was able to mount the SI transducer on the trolling motor with the Transducer Shield and Saver and had to take the Terrova apart so I could run the wire up the grove on the shaft. It made for a real nice looking mount and no wires dangling everywhere. I can't wait to give it a try. I can also remove the RAM mount and just leave the ball on the front of the boat when I am not fishing from the front. I tried it last weekend and it works great...

The terrova wire mounting idea came from a Crappie.com member from this post.. Glad I saw that post or I would have never thought about it.. Thanks!
