    The harness has a float as part of it and is made for a quick release incase it gets hung up or you have to detach in a hurry. Then just circle around and pick it up. Make a rope harness and slide it through a piece of pool noodle and have the same thing. You do need to attach another line to the small end to dump the sock when you go to retrieve it. Makes it a lot easier to get in.

    Thanks Cray. Having a float in case you need to detach makes sense. I've got the drift sock from Cabelas and those have a blue lead that goes to the small end. The rest are black. Makes it easy to grab the right one.
