Thread: Our State must be BROKE!

I bought a used boat this year from out oif state and knew I'd need a bill of sale on the trailer with a witness signature. The boat was titled and was in the owner's name so I figured the title would be enough. It was signed over to me and notarized at the bank. Well, came to find out since Georgia doesnt title boats I'd need a bill of sale on the boat too. Didnt make any sense to me at all since the title from another state was in hand, signed over to me, and notorized?!? Sometimes them people dont think!:rolleyes:

Basically all boats purchased after April 1 2011 will have to show proof of sales tax paid on everything from trailer to motor to electronics.

I registered my new boat back in March.....I did not have a title ......I just sent MDWFP a copy of the invoice where I bought it.....the invoice showed the ser. numbers for the boat and trailer, and motor and what I paid for sales tax.....they were not concerned with the trailer and motor ser. numbers, just the boat......it went right through. I used that same invoice and bought the trailer tag at the courthouse for 35 bucks.

Lawd...Me and the hubby just bought a used boat from an individual. We just sent in for the registration...only sent a bill of sale. Sounds like we may be in for a treat!!

you should be ok as long as you had a witness sign yours and the sellers signature on your bill of sales. it don't have to be a notary so their instructions stated. i sent my bill of sales and got it back stating it had to have a witness signature. had that done, sent it back and got my numbers in about two weeks.
