Me too Bigger. When I was a kid, my Mom would fry up a big batch of crunchy okra for me to take to the drive in movie, I liked that much better that popcorn.

Big C is probably right about too much water. Leaves dying at the bottom of plants is probably due to too much nitrogen in your fertilizer. a balanced fertilizer (13-13-13) or (10-10-10) will work for tomatoes sometimes, but one that's low in nitrogen is best---like 4-10-10. I use the Miracle Grow for tomatoes (the red kind). You will still have some leaves die at the bottom, but the plants as a whole will do a lot better.

Man, I been shooting mine with Miracle Grow every other week n deep watering once a week plus hitting it every day for a few minutes with water. Right now I got plants just over 5 feet tall n loaded with Maters. I have about 15 or 20 on each plant. Just ain't big enough yet to fry up. LOL On the splitting, I heard something about the watering. To dry and to wet will do that. Course I heard about to much of some kinda nutrient to but ain't remember which one.
