I have a 788 also, nice unit. Just wondering though, why did you go with the internal gps? It is tough enough with these units to find brush piles when the antennae is close to the ducer. With yours, you are gonna be off several feet.

Im using internal on my unit because it is up front with my TM, now the 898 has the external and it is across the boat on the other side from the unit. would I be better to move it (GPS puck) on the same side as my unit and it would be within 2 feet of the 898 display. I also have the connected via ethernet and I can use the external from the 898 but it would be way at the back of the boat so I dont see why I would wanna use the external on 788 mounted on the front of the boat

Just because someone has tapatalk doesn't mean they know how to use it. Just saying.
