Tell me what pitch he is running and what the RPM's are at wide open throttle and I can tell you what pitch you need to go to

Maybe it needs TA-JUSTING (as my youngest used to say)??? Do those need to be fine-tuned to the load?

Some jack plates are adjustable and some are not. If he has the adjustable then he might have his motor set up a little too high.

    Es,
Before you spend any money, check and see where the prop is setting in water. With jackplate on, someone may have raised motor a couple inches. Jackplate should make it better coming out of hole if heighth is set right.

Yes, I knew he's talkin' about the ONLY boat they've got that's navigable. I just wondered if the JackPlate needed adjusting. Thanks, MO.

He's a geezer so he hasn't had the rpms anywhere near full blast. He planes it off and puts. I'll have to look at the prop. All I can tell ya is it's a big ss 3 blade

His boat is also an '89 model and quite tank-ish. It has to weigh more than mine

If he aint gonna run it giving up top end wont be too bad, sure is nice to get in it when you need it tho. If the jackplate is adjustable just lower it a half inch at a time and see if it helps. Be sure to keep both sides the same, did this to mine 4 weeks ago and it helped.
