Yeah the fish I caught yesterday was on a rod that only had 35 feet out. Dont really know if it hurts or not. Was really surprised and the fish I caught close to my trolling motor this past spring.

I usually troll with 35 to 50 ft of line out. Last year I was pulling off the sides in the front of the boat with different lengths of rods for line separation and I caught lots of fish with 35 ft of line out. With an 18 ft boat, that was 15 ft behind the boat. I found out it's a lot easier to pull out of the back though. Trying to land a fish from under an umbrella is tough. Lol

Gotta start somewhere.'Least you werent skunked, and we've all been there before.
On the 200's. With the lip being shorter, they'll also have abit of a different wobble to them as well and that could make a big difference at times

DD, I just getting started and figured I could catch fish deeper with the 300s and still fish them shallow if needed. Will be getting some 200s but I got to crawl a little while. Used spinning rods with my line length marked with line stops and it seemed to work pretty well. Prolly give em another shot this afternoon.

To be honest DD it's cheaper than green carp fishing was and I didnt even eat them nasty things. Have spent more on a flippin stick and reel than what it gonna cost me to get 6 reel counters and rods.

I feel ya there rees. My carp rod was $170 and the reel to go on it was $150, and I had six to ten rods in the boat at any given time, not all that expensive but still ain't cheap by any means
