They usually cook crappie fillets, hush puppie, and fries......most times someone will bring a big grill and some of the guys will cook deer sausage, wild hog sausages, and stuff like that. Its the guys that bring the cookers and fry the fish, hushpuppies, and fries that have retired.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Last year the date was Sept. 11 and it was after the FJ's and the FJ championship. It was a time for the guys that fish the tourneys to unwind and just relax.....it was a time for a lot of us just to see each other and visit again before winter....it was just a great time. It was still bad hot then for the guys cooking. I think possibly the first weekend in Oct. would be better, maybe a little cooler.....but a lot of the guys want it before the duck and deer hunting seasons begin so they can attend. I don't hunt anymore so I don't know when the early seasons start. The mini Fall Camp that the Rez guys had last year was Nov.13.....the weather was cooler, they had a great turnout and the fish fry was great ( thanks EZ) and we had a great time. By the way Morris picked that date himself but he was not there, lol.......he had a conflict....The Major did a fantastic job hosting and giving out the door prizes etc.....EZ's fish fry was supurb and the dishes the ladies made was very good....you just can't beat Nessa's dip.

Please post again sat.....sorry but I tried to quote your post and deleted it by accident............You said maybe the second week in Sept......so some could dove hunt and then come to the cook out. It looks like the Championship is going to be in Sept and will probably be after Fall Camp if you do that. I was just looking at the calendar and Oct. 8 looks good.....should not be in any conflict with another fishing tourney or a holiday weekend...and still early enough maybe to miss hunting season and be a little cooler for the cook out. Just kinda thinking outloud here.

I like Oct 8, get to hunt opening weekend of bow season and get back on the lake the next weekend. Be cooler and water level shouldn't be a problem.

No, Sat and "G", I don't have a date picked. I just like to have a little time to make arrangments. With the Finals in September, having it in October is going to mess folks up that want to bow hunt and come to the camp. I know this is a forbidden suggestion but why not have the Finals and Fall camp together? Does the Finals have to be on Grenada? Don't get your panties in a wad. I'm just asking a question. I'm throwing out ideas. Cancel Arkabutla and have a FJ on Grenada and the Finals/Fall Camp on Sardis. Make it a 2 day event and stop fishing at 12:00 pm and weigh-in at 1:00 and eat afterwards. Folks that have to drive a long distance can go home rather than spend another night in a motel. Again, just making a suggestion. I personnally like fishing Grenada in the middle of September but Sardis in September would be the about the same.
And then there was silence..........

Once apon I had this job too, and the time for alterations and recomendations is in the off season. Things get jacked up when you stray from a plan.
