You have to have a long shaft motor 20" shaft on a 20" transom, when you start to look for a great deal on a used motor it is a lot easier to find a short shaft motor vs long shaft.

My kicker motor on my big boat is a short shaft on a tall transom and it works fine but it is just being used as a trolling motor.
