Thanks Slab, but for trolling and pulling cranks your not turning that much any way! I just wanted to know if they basically work the same as a terrova, I have never needed the autopilot option but wanted to be able to operate the tm from anywhere in the boat.Quote:

The autopilot is THE reason to go with the Terrova with I-Pilot. Here's the deal...when the wind blows (and does it ever not blow these days?) if you take your eye off the water the wind will catch your boat and put you into a spin...the autopilot will attempt to correct course, while with it turned off (like the MG) the boat will continue on power except in a turn now. The longer it goes without correction, the more of the boat catches the wind, the quicker it turns. Now, the AP is not fool proof and in high winds or gusty conditions, it really isn't fast enough nor sensitive enough, but it's the best game in town.
Does the MG have varialble speed 0 to 100? Does the foot pedal and remotes cost extra? What size is the foot? Are you really OK with a metal shaft? Is there something similar to the maximizer on it for battery longevity?
With the wind, I'm sure the MG would be fine for 50% of the days but to me the AP gives me another 25% of the days where it's not hard to fish. There's always going to be 25% where it don't matter what you've got. Also, I fish alone or with the boys 99% of the time, so I have no help in controlling the boat, you don't have that same issue for the most part.
The MK is far from perfect and I really wish Cane Pole would hack the software that runs it and improve on it, but as of right now, you can't beat it.

WB, Catalog says new ones have composite shaft,variable speed control, high speed steering response, 1 degree steering resolution ( what ever that means ) life time shaft warranty. Bet they come out with some kind of pilot before long to.
It is a digital trolling motor so yes it is great on power consumption, it is a variable speed motor as well from 0 to OH SHI_ !!! I can't belive it runs that fast !! and the hand held devices are extra and you can program up to 4 of them per motor so you can always have a spare incase you drop it in the water or cant find it!
No it is not a Terrova but it cost 1/2 as much as a Terrova. Comparing the two is like comparing WB's toy truck to my F250 super duty !!
I just looked at them in the Cabela catalog....comes complete with the foot control, a remote control, and a lockable mounting plate and quick release motor bracket. It also has a 100% composite shaft. Free shipping too.........looks like a heck of a deal to me 75Lb. thrust, 24 volt with 60 inch shaft all for $759.99
