The bottomline to this is we ain't going to please everybody, and you can't predict the weather, the lake, nor the fishing (or biting as the case may be) if that was the case WB would have a freezer full of fish and we all know that ain't happening. I think the schedule was pretty good this year. Yeah Grenada sucked for me again this year but one day I will learn where to go (or at least who to follow, I ain't shamed). I have also toyed with the idea of leaving May out completely and maybe having 2 in either April or June. If you are looking for a good bite I think the chances are better in these 2 months rather than May, but again we can't predict the weather so who knows. If we do go to one more lake I think we need to stay at 3 FJ's to still qualify for the final hoorah. I hear a lot of folks wanting to fish here and there when the spawn is happening, well unless we are going to pack like 4 or 5 FJ's into a 6 or 8 week period that ain't gonna happen. I am just thinking out loud like some of the rest of you to see if there is a fix or if we all need to just hush and fish when we can with what we are given.

    We have not set schedule.

    We have no pre-determined camp.
We have no pre-determined number of tournaments to fish for the finals.

We send WB a pm by the Sunday afternoon before Monday with a fishing report on where you fished and what you did. If the fish are biting better at a particular lake than others, we go there the next week-end and have a FJ.
If the fish are really biting such as this past Sardis bite, we hold multiple tournaments until the fish stop biting. After all, the reason for the fj's is to catch fish and have fun doing it.
At one tournament per month, we have a "Camp" or a big cook-out.
As far as the "finals", put all of the lakes that have been mentioned in a hat and draw one out. Now put the 12 months in a hat and draw one out. That settles where and when the final will be. If the lake comes up Bee Lake in June, that's the finals and July starts the new year. No restrictions, no schedules, no nothing. Keep it simple!
Well I think you need to have some kind of set schedule. Of course with any schedule it won't please everyone. Also, there can always be issues that can arise on a scheduled date that we would have no control over such as the weather or the bite just being off but many people need to know when & where the tournaments or going to be more than a week in advance in order to take off work if they intend to prefish the Friday before.
Although it may sound simple on paper the "everyone PM WB as to where the fish are biting good that weekend & go there the next weekend" I see that as turning into yet another situation for people to argue over where to go etc and just create confusion on making a firm decision on where to go only 1 week before a tournment.

Allow me to babble a little more since I'm on lunch eating my tuna on wheat and baked lays. Hold on for a sec while I remove the crusts...

Ok I'm back. Feel free to delete this if I'm crossing the line of what this thread is about because I am about to back-peddle a little bit.

Time to take you on a tangent... I know that we are trying to grow, but are we trying to grow "our group", or are we trying to grow our tournament turnouts? -- I'll say it. Does it rub anybody else the wrong way for non-members to fish the FJ's? I would like to see a one team member must be a member rule.

In one sense it seems like a good way to get others to join in and potentially join crappie.com, but in the other sense, it kinda urks me to see randoms show up fish, win, take money, and leave. 95% of the folks couldn't tell you who won at Grenada, and still couldn't without reflecting back to the leader board thread. Every time someone would ask "who won", all response went like this, "some dewds that aint even members in some fancy wrapped up truck and boat". "Well where are they?" "They done left."

It just sucks to see people take no interest in us, our club, or our huge spread of delicious food, but show plenty of interest in snatching some prise money and leaving.

We can NOT drop butla that lake has the biggest fish of any coe lake and the only reason that is it's a hard lake to fish? I have seen 5lb fish come out of that mud that never hit a scale went straight to the fryer.
If the fish aren't bitting just remember your not at work ! :D

Grenada was the first FJ that I have fished and here are my perceptions for what they are worth-- after finally putting some names/faces together, the thought of yall sitting around a computer without any shorts on is not appealling--- the COE lakes normally dont have any water until April (how late depends on the year) and after Labor Day are low also---- creating different divisions is not goood----keep the 3 FJ to qualify that way if a team cannot drive across state to fish, they wont be penalized
