Default Ok here are some details of my

not so good Saturday on the water. I got up early ran to spot on with a perfectly good motor and caught 5 fish and they just quit. I said phooey, went to spot 2 with a perfectly good motor and caught 0 fish. This time I said double phooey and went to spot 3 with a perfectly good motor, started catching some better quality fish and said HOT DOG. So now it is time to go meet everybody for lunch. I fasten everything down, sit down in the drivers seat, turn the key on that perfectly good motor and a civil war cannon goes off in my ear. For G's sake I won't say what I said this time but it would have made a sailor learn a few words I think. After 3 or 4 seconds of figuring what just happened my cowling returns to earth and my head was the landing zone. If anybody don't think a piece of plastic won't hurt you let me drop a cowling on your head from 15 feet above. So, after the cowling whoops me I hear sizzling, see smoke, and you know what they say about smoke, where it is there is fire. At one point I could not see the motor hardly at all and was wishing I had feelay there for his fire skills. With only 2 or 3 seconds left before I went man over board the fire went out. My uncle towed me back in and my fishing day was over and my drunk started. I figured since my legs were so weak I could hardly stand up and my head was killing what did I have to lose my consuming some alcohol. Here are a few pics of the aftermath.

I didn't realize the head you mentioned was your noggin. Man I'll bet that hurt and left a mark. Was it a gas explosion or the motor goin pop?

Dang TMan. Glad you're ok. Wonder what caused it? Good thing that cowling hit ya in the head and not somewhere vital!

Thanks guys! Fixing to take it to the shop now and see what I can find out.

And let me stress something to everybody, if you do not have a good fire extinguisher on board....GO GET ONE!! Do not go cheap with this one. I have been in a boat since I was 4 and have owned my own boat since I was 18 and have never had to use one but Saturday was I ever more proud to have a good medium size extinguisher.
