Try and shoot some fuel out using the bulb while it's disconnected from the engine to see if fuel is going the right direction regardless of what the arrow says.

May have to Push in the little ball on the engine fitting with a screw driver to allow the flow.

If you have quick connects on ends of hose, Check end that goes on fuel connection for a oring seal in front of check ball. I have had those roll out of place on new hoses when first installed letting it suck air. hook to tank remove quick connect from motor end and pump to see if you get any gas out but suspect it has something to do with connection at tank since 2 hoses did same thing. Could be slight difference in old and new connectors. Also might put old connector on new hose. Hope you get her straightened out.
