Check the bulb. Is it holding prime? If there is a small hole or some other leak in it, that could cause what you are describing.

I have a 60hp merc. that starts and idles fine.It even gets up to speed fine, but then it falls on it's face. What's strange about it is ,i can bounce in the set and it clears up for a minute. It does good in rough water. Any ideas

something in the tank stopping up the suck tube?
I had a similar problem, turned out that ethanol had eaten the inside of the bulb and tiny pieces of it had clogged the jets. You'll have to have the carbs cleaned and replace the fuel line including the bulb.

My Yamaha did the same thing. The ethanol had eatin the inner lining out of the fuel line and the bulb. The line was colapsing on mine. I put a new line from the tank to the motor and waalaa. She runs fine now.
What minner and Maj said and make sure that you replace with the new alcohol resistant fuel line
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Same as above, change bulb and fuel line. If that doesn't fix problem it is the carbs.
Thanks everyone,i replaced all the fuel lines and bulb, but it's been a while. Also the problem is very consistant.I have not checked the suck tube ,tried to get it out but thought i was gonna break something. It's just weird that shaking the boat makes it clearup for a minute.

I had a similar problem, wound up being the fuel tank not vented.
Does sound fuel related, especially since the bouncing clears it for a bit.
